The School Day

The school day starts at 8:55 and finishes at 3:25 pm for KS1 pupils and 3:30 pm for KS2 pupils. This equates to 32.5 hours per week in KS1 and 32 hours and 55 minutes in KS2. Our doors open at 8:45 so that we can ensure that the children are in on time. Between 8:45 and 9 am pupils take part in Morning activities which help them practice basic skills. The doors shut at 8:55 am and after that children need to enter via the office, signing in on the Inventory system and giving a reason for lateness.

Morning Playtimes

At 10:30 am, children from Y1 to Y6 have a 15-minute break. Fruit can be brought from home or snacks can be purchased from school at a cost of 40p per day.

Lunch

Children in Reception have their lunch at 11:45 and play out until 1 pm. Children in KS1 and 2 have their lunch time between 12 noon and 1 pm.

Assemblies

We have a whole school assembly on a Monday and Tuesday morning. Wednesday and Thursday morning see Key stage assemblies taking place and on Friday afternoon at 3pm we hold a celebration assembly. All of our morning assemblies are from 10:00 to 10:15am.

Drop off and Collection

At the beginning and end of the school day, parents are encouraged into the playground. This helps to build up a good relationship between school and home which is important for your child’s progress. If normal arrangements have to be altered please let us know to avoid any confusion or upset.

Getting to School

Walking to and from school is definitely the best option! There are lots of benefits: it’s healthier than travelling by car, it improves the safety around school and allows you to speak to your child about their learning. Alternatively, cycling safely (using a helmet) or on a scooter is also beneficial. Parking is limited around the school so we ask that if you are travelling by car, you respect our neighbours and park carefully.
